It’s said the eyes are the window to the soul. Throughout our lives we see so much, and as we age our eyes may not work as well. The outward appearance of our eyes can also change. Shadows and puffy skin highlight age and exhaustion, and eyelids may appear hooded as faces sag. Over time, the physical appearance of our eyes may affect how they function, but there is a procedure that can help.
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of one’s eyes. Some patients may undergo this procedure to create creases that keep the eyelids from looking hooded, or less visible when the eyes are open. Others may opt to have excess fat accumulation under the eyes removed, thereby improving the shape of one’s face.
Reasons for having a cosmetic procedure on the eyes performed may include:
- Improving work appearance: In this growing age of video conferencing, it’s important to look “Zoom-ready” for presentations and job interviews. For some it means taking facial improvements into consideration.
- Improving vision: When upper eyelids begin to sag, they may obscure one’s vision. A lid procedure removes the excess skin which blocks vision.
- Overall youthful appearance: Eye procedures can smooth out the skin underneath the eye and diminish “crow’s feet” wrinkles. The patient looks younger and feels revitalized.
Is An Eye Procedure Right For You?
If your work requires you to remain client or customer-facing, you may wish to consider an eye procedure. If blepharoplasty is undergone for health reasons, insurance may cover some or all of the costs.
