Kanter is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Southern Medical Society, the Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Medical Society of Virginia. A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Dr. Kanter is married and has five adult children. His family continues to grow and enrich his life. Dr. Kanter enjoys mentoring students and supporting local artists. He maintains an active love of the outdoors, including: white-water rafting, canoeing, hiking and bicycling.

Residency: University of Kentucky, with Dr. Edward A. Luce and Dr. Norman Cole
Fellowship: Cosmetic Surgery training with Dr. Eugene Courtiss, a founding member and past president of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons
